Last night. Sunday. Maybe you were curled up on the couch, half-watching something, half-scrolling through Instagram and its usual mix of life updates: a close friend buying an apartment, a random acquaintance on a beach in Thailand, your old colleague freshly promoted, an influencer dropping their āhow I make six figures with my 3-step guideā post.
And then this little voice in your head: What about me? Did I miss something? Should I be doing more? Earning more? Being more?
Thatās not failure talking.
Thatās not weakness.
Thatās envy.
This uncomfortable feeling that always brings its best friend: shame. Shame that youāre not above this. Shame that youāre not truly happy for others. And sometimes, shame to admit that you might want really big things.
Weāre told envy is ugly, shameful, childish. But what if itās actually valuable? What if itās your brain telling you something you care about?
Sometimes envy points to a real desire.
Sometimes it just means itās time to close the app and take a walk.
But hereās what it always means:
Thereās something here worth exploring.
š£ So this week, instead of pushing envy away, pay attention to it. Itās not here to drag you down, itās trying to tell you something. Write down what triggered it, and what it might be pointing to.
Alright, thatās enough feelings for a Monday!
Catch you soon.
