When we don’t talk about our wins at work, like wrapping up a big project ahead of schedule, handling a tricky client, fixing a problem no one else saw, or leading a presentation for the first time… chances are, no one’s going to notice.
Same goes for our own brain.
If we don’t stop and acknowledge, “Hey, I actually pulled that off,” it’s like it never happened.
When we don’t actively recognize our achievements, our brain doesn’t register them as meaningful. It doesn’t see them. Literally. This makes us feel like we’re never doing enough.
It’s because of our negativity bias (the same one that makes us hold on to negative feedback more than positive).
That’s why celebrating wins, even small ones, isn’t just nice. It actually trains your brain to notice your own progress. It also boosts your confidence and builds momentum.
After a terrible experience with a terrible boss, I started using a system to record and visualize my wins at work (and expanded it to include life wins). Today, I wanted to bring that to our Money Feelings community, celebrating everything we’ve learned, practiced, and achieved together this past month.
Think of it as our monthly brag sheet. At the end, I’ll share a more personal list.
🟣 In the Newsletter
✅ In this session, we learned that having a clear direction of where we want to go financially, and why, shapes our behaviors, lets us align our money decisions with our values, and reduces our impulsive choices.
✅ We practiced doing it by setting clear intentions and planning specific "if-then" actions (“implementation intentions”) to make our financial goals more achievable.
✅ In this one, we examined how emotions can influence both our eating and shopping behaviors and why understanding the psychology behind is crucial.
✅ We practiced identifying emotional triggers that lead to impulsive decisions—whether that’s food, shopping, or both—and how to recognize these patterns.
🟣 In the Chat
✅ Some of us shared our January money wins. And by "money wins," I mean every big or small step toward greater financial well-being. There are already many inspiring contributions. If you haven’t checked them out yet, take a look.
And don’t forget to record and celebrate your own money wins from this past month (with us or with yourself).
🤔 Might turn this into a monthly tradition… what do you think?
🟪 In the Questionnaire
The Money Feelings Questionnaire is an ultra detailed (and I've been told 'so much fun!!') exploration of our money psychology, helping us uncover our own patterns, crack open those money taboos, and get better at understanding what others are dealing with.
✅ This month, we explored the Money Feelings of Bianca Osborne, fertility diet coach and author of The School of Food.
Want to take the Questionnaire and be featured on Money Feelings?
🔒 In the Paid Corner
✅ In January, we also secured an exclusive discount for Emilie Bellet’s Investing Bootcamp at Vestpod. (Sign up quickly, it starts in March and it’s really brilliant if you want to get into investing!)
📌 Reminder: Understanding the ins and outs of your financial psychology is so powerful for improving your financial well-being. You know what else helps? Paying less for stuff. If you’ve spotted a tool or service that could boost your well-being (a budgeting tool, an app, a book, a coaching service, etc. anywhere in the world, the USA, Brazil, France, the UK, the Netherlands?), let me know in the comments. I’ll do my best to secure a discount for our community. Don’t be shy! But also, feel free to message me directly if you are shy :)
If you worked through the latest two chapters of the Money Feelings Workbook, the guided journal to explore your money psychology, you now have:
